OXFORD — During the recent clash between Ole Miss and Oklahoma, fans from both teams shared a poignant moment that underscored the spirit of sportsmanship.

No. 18 Ole Miss (6-2, 2-2 SEC) secured a 26-14 victory over Oklahoma at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

With under 12 minutes left in the game, play was halted due to a medical incident involving Dr. Kurre Luber, who was present on the Ole Miss sideline. He collapsed to the ground and was surrounded by three medical professionals who tended to him for several minutes before he was assisted to his feet.

Fortunately, Luber managed to walk off the field, prompting a wave of relief from players and fans alike.

“It was a scary moment,” remarked Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin. “I didn’t see the specifics when it occurred. Dr. Luber has been fantastic around here and supportive to my family. It was really concerning when he wasn’t moving.”

The entire Rebels roster gathered around Luber to show their support, and Kiffin noted that the team came together for a collective prayer.

When Luber stood up, he received enthusiastic applause from the crowd.

“I told (defensive end) Jared (Ivey) after the prayer, ‘That was a pretty powerful prayer,’ because right as we finished, he got up,” Kiffin said. “It was really special to see him back. We talked to him afterward, and he was doing much better than we initially feared.”
