Acclaimed director Steven Spielberg and legendary composer John Williams are set to collaborate for the 30th time on Spielberg’s upcoming UFO film, much to the delight of fans and the film industry alike. This exciting news was revealed by Damian Woetzel, president of the Juilliard School, during an event honoring Williams. Woetzel stated, “The trigger is John Williams, who is in Los Angeles doing what he does best: he is working with Steven Spielberg on his next film. And that is cause for joy.”

The duo’s illustrious partnership has produced some of the most iconic films in cinema history, including “Indiana Jones,” “Jaws,” “E.T.,” “Jurassic Park,” and “Saving Private Ryan.” While details surrounding the new UFO film remain sparse, it is confirmed that a talented cast has been assembled, featuring Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colman Domingo, Eve Hewson, and Colin Firth.

Earlier this year, John Williams expressed his views on film music, sharing a candid perspective. He remarked, “I’ve never been much of a fan of film music. Film music, as good as it might be – and it usually isn’t, except maybe some eight-minute segment – I just think it’s lacking something.” He emphasized that while film music is often cherished with nostalgia, equating it with the stature of classical music in concert halls is, in his opinion, a misconception.

Despite his extensive career, Williams reassured fans that he has no plans to retire soon, affirming, “So I’ve got 10 more years to go. I’ll be around for a while! Also, you can’t ‘retire’ from music. It’s like breathing. It’s your life. It’s my life. A day without music is a mistake.” Spielberg’s highly anticipated UFO movie is slated for release in 2026, promising yet another remarkable chapter in the storied collaboration of these two titans of film.
