A new chapter in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man saga is set to begin. During his recent appearance on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Holland confirmed that Spider-Man 4 is officially in the works. “It’s happening,” he stated. “Next summer we start shooting. Everything’s good to go. We’re nearly there. It’s super exciting. Yeah, I can’t wait.”
In a separate interview on Good Morning America, Holland hinted at the film’s unique concept, saying, “The idea is crazy. It’s a little different to anything we’ve done before, but I think the fans are gonna really respond to it.”
Last week, on the Rich Roll Podcast, Holland revealed that he and Zendaya have reviewed drafts of the script. He expressed enthusiasm, noting, “I read it three weeks ago, and it really lit a fire in me. Zendaya and I sat down and read it together, and we at times were bouncing around the living room like, ‘This is a real movie worthy of the fans’ respect.’ But there are a few things we need to figure out before we can get that really going, but it’s exciting.”
The Hollywood Reporter recently disclosed that Destin Daniel Cretton is in discussions to direct the film, succeeding Jon Watts, who directed the previous three films featuring Holland. The two Amazing Spider-Man films, which starred Andrew Garfield, were directed by Marc Webb, while Sam Raimi directed the trilogy that included Tobey Maguire.
For the fourth Spider-Man installment, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers will write the script, with production led by Marvel head Kevin Feige and former Sony head Amy Pascal.
The plot details remain under wraps, especially since the conclusion of No Way Home left audiences with Peter Parker’s identity as Spider-Man erased from public memory, including from MJ (Zendaya).
Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon have appeared in the three previous Spider-Man films: Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
In addition to his upcoming Spider-Man project, Holland is set to star in Christopher Nolan’s latest film along with Matt Damon. Nolan is both writing and directing this Universal project, scheduled for release on July 17, 2026.
On Good Morning America, Holland shared his excitement about the Nolan project, reminiscing about the moment he received the offer. “When the opportunity came in, it was the phone call of a lifetime,” he remarked. “It was reminiscent of getting the call about Spider-Man 10 years ago. It’s an amazing thing for me. I’m super proud and I’m really, really excited.”
