The eagerly anticipated sequel series, “Spartacus: House of Ashur,” is set to premiere on December 5, Starz has announced. Fans can expect the first two episodes to be available on the debut date, with new episodes released weekly on Fridays. The show will be exclusively available through the Starz app and all its streaming and on-demand platforms.
Adding to the excitement, Starz has unveiled a series of new first-look images, providing glimpses of what is to come. The show’s intriguing premise explores an alternate history where Ashur, portrayed by Nick E. Tarabay, survives and ascends to power after his betrayal is rewarded by the Romans. Ashur finds himself running a gladiator school, the very place where he once fought as a slave. However, he soon discovers that navigating the brutal realm of Roman politics is far more treacherous than ruling gladiators. Breaking from tradition, Ashur partners with Achillia, a formidable female gladiator played by Tenika Davis, as they create a sensational spectacle that challenges and shocks the Roman elite.
The series boasts a strong cast, including Graham McTavish as Korris, Jordi Webber as Tarchon, Jamaica Vaughan as Hilara, and others, enriching the storyline with diverse and intriguing characters. At the helm of “House of Ashur” as the showrunner and executive producer is Steven S. DeKnight, the creator, writer, and executive producer of the original “Spartacus” series. The series is also produced by Lionsgate Television, with Rick Jacobson and Aaron Helbing serving as executive producers.
The “Spartacus” saga began on Starz in 2010 with “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” followed by the prequel “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena” in 2011 and continued through “Spartacus: Vengeance” in 2012 and “Spartacus: War of the Damned” in 2013.
