SpaceX is set to launch the SiriusXM SXM-10 satellite into geosynchronous transfer orbit on Friday night from Cape Canaveral, Florida. The Falcon 9 rocket will take off from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40), with the launch window scheduled to open at 11:19 p.m. There is also a backup window available on Saturday at the same time should the launch be postponed.

This particular Falcon 9 rocket has a noteworthy launch history, having successfully completed seven missions prior. Its past missions include important projects such as Crew-9 and multiple Starlink missions, as well as the RRT-1 and Firefly Blue Ghost Mission 1 launches. After delivering the SXM-10 satellite into orbit, the rocket’s first stage will attempt to return and land on the droneship named “A Shortfall of Gravitas,” which is stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

This launch highlights SpaceX’s continued commitment to expanding satellite communications capabilities, specifically for SiriusXM, which provides satellite radio content to users across the United States and beyond. The successful deployment of the SXM-10 could enhance SiriusXM’s service offerings and provide users with improved access to satellite radio.

As the launch approaches, anticipation builds within the aerospace community and among satellite radio users eager for advancements in communication technology.
