Heating Up in Southern New England and the Atlantic

Warm, humid air continues to dominate Southern New England while the Atlantic coast stays cooler thanks to a sea breeze off the water. Overnight temperatures will dip only into the upper 60s, keeping the humidity high.

Wednesday brings higher humidity with temps around or above average. Coastal areas will be the coolest part of the region, with a south-facing breeze off the ocean. Along the water, expect upper 70s to low 80s; inland areas will reach the mid to upper 80s, with a few spots nudging toward 90. The day starts sunny, but clouds will thicken late afternoon as low pressure approaches. While interior parts of New England may see thunderstorms Wednesday evening, our area should still stay mostly dry, with a few showers possible. And yes, we could use the rain.

As a cold front sweeps through Thursday, rain chances rise a bit, but it won’t be a washout. It will remain warm and muggy with highs in the mid to upper 80s. The front will bring a chance of showers and perhaps a thunderstorm as it moves through.

Once the front passes, temperatures drop back toward seasonal norms. Friday highs will be in the low to mid 80s, with humidity easing and clouds decreasing through the day.

The weekend looks promising. Saturday should be mostly sunny and comfortable, with highs in the low to mid 80s. Sunday will remain mostly sunny but warmer, with highs in the mid to upper 80s and a touch more humidity.

What to expect:
– Warm, humid spell continues through midweek, especially inland.
– Coastal areas stay cooler due to ocean influence.
– A modest shower/thunderstorm risk Thursday with a passing cold front.
– Weekend forecast: sunny and pleasant Saturday; warmer and a bit muggy Sunday.

Overall, a favorable stretch of late-summer weather with sunshine returning for weekend plans. For anyone planning outdoor activities, stay hydrated, use sun protection, and keep an eye on updated forecasts for any stray shower chances midweek.
