SEOUL, Nov. 5 — South Korea’s presidential artificial intelligence (AI) committee convened on Wednesday to discuss the responsible use of AI technology with Ben Mann, co-founder of the AI development firm Anthropic, known for its AI assistant, Claude.
During the meeting, Im Moon-young, vice chair of the National AI Strategy Committee, highlighted South Korea’s position as one of the top five countries in terms of Claude users. Mann expressed enthusiasm about this engagement, stating that Anthropic is planning to establish an office in South Korea by early 2026. This move underscores the company’s commitment to fostering the safe use of AI in the nation and enhancing the competitiveness of local startups and businesses.
