The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) announced on Tuesday that there have been 27 new measles cases reported in the state since Friday, bringing the total number of cases related to the ongoing Upstate outbreak to 111. The total number of measles cases reported to DPH this year has now reached 114.
A significant portion of these new cases, specifically 16, stem from exposure at the Way of Truth Church in Inman. As the outbreak continues, health officials have placed 254 individuals under quarantine, with 16 people currently in isolation to prevent further spread of the virus.
DPH provided more detailed statistics regarding the ages of those affected by the outbreak. Of the reported cases, 20 individuals are under the age of five, 75 are aged between 5 and 17, and 10 are adults aged 18 and older. Additionally, there are six minors whose exact ages have not been disclosed.
