Sony has unveiled a new 27-inch monitor designed specifically for PlayStation 5 gamers who enjoy a desktop gaming experience. This monitor boasts an impressive 2,560 x 1,440 resolution and offers HDR support with automatic HDR tone mapping that activates during setup. When connected to the PS5 or PS5 Pro, it can achieve variable refresh rates of up to 120Hz, and up to 240Hz when connected to a Mac or PC, enhancing the gaming experience with smoother visuals.
The monitor features two HDMI ports and one DisplayPort, catering to various connectivity needs, along with a USB-C port and two USB-A ports to connect accessories, such as the PlayStation Link wireless headphone adapter. Additionally, it includes a 3.5mm audio jack for those who prefer using wired headphones instead of the monitor’s built-in stereo speakers.
One standout feature of this monitor is a unique hook that flips down from the back, specifically designed to hold and charge a PS5 DualSense controller, although it can only accommodate one controller at a time.
While pricing and exact availability details are yet to be announced, Sony has indicated that the PlayStation 27-inch Gaming Monitor with DualSense Charging Hook is set to launch in the United States and Japan sometime in 2026. The latest offering marks a renewed focus for Sony in the gaming monitor space, following the launch of its last dedicated console monitor in 2011 for the PS3, which included a 24-inch panel and 3D capabilities.
This new gaming monitor is anticipated to appeal not only to dedicated gamers looking for high-performance displays but also to those seeking functionality tailored to their gaming setup.
