Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is set to broaden its character roster, venturing beyond the traditional Sonic universe. At the recent Summer Game Fest, it was revealed that popular figures such as Joker from Persona 5 and Ichiban from the Like A Dragon series will be joining iconic characters like Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles.
In an exciting twist, Vocaloid sensation Hatsune Miku and Steve from the popular game Minecraft will also make appearances in the racing game. This diverse lineup highlights the game’s commitment to incorporating a wider array of fan-favorite characters from various franchises.
Takashi Iizuka from Sonic Team took a humorous jab at competitors during the announcement, confirming that Sonic Racing CrossWorlds will feature cross-play—a notable distinction from “a certain other kart racer.” This feature is expected to enhance the gaming experience, allowing players to race together regardless of their platform.
Scheduled for release on September 25, the game will be available across multiple platforms including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games.
The introduction of cross-play and a rich character roster creates an exciting opportunity for players to enjoy a more interconnected gaming experience and foster a sense of community in the Sonic racing fandom. The game not only aims to deliver exhilarating racing action but also celebrates a wide variety of beloved gaming icons.
