Solomon Islands international and Rewa FC striker John Orobulu is set to make a significant move to Papua New Guinea’s Hekari United FC for the upcoming 2026 OFC Professional League season. Orobulu, who recently excelled in several tournaments by claiming the golden boot award for the IDC in Ba and the Battle of the Giants in Labasa, led the Extra Premier League with 11 goals over 13 rounds.
Rewa FC President Nazil Buksh confirmed this transfer to FBC Sports, announcing that the 25-year-old will join Hekari United after competing in the Pacific Cup, which concludes on November 30. Orobulu is expected to travel to New Zealand with Rewa’s squad before reporting to Hekari in early December, with plans to return to Rewa during the June transfer window.
Due to the timing of the OFC Pro League, which runs from January to May, Orobulu will miss the Champion-versus-Champion clash and a segment of Rewa’s 2026 Extra Premier League campaign. Hekari United’s head coach, Marcos Alves Gusmão, expressed confidence in Orobulu’s ability to contribute significantly to the team’s performance and development.
In addition to Orobulu’s move, discussions are underway with a Fijian player regarding a potential transfer to Hekari United, illustrating the club’s commitment to strengthening its squad. Each OFC Pro League team is required to register 17 local players, alongside provisions for three players from other OFC nations and three from outside the region, ensuring a competitive balance in the league.
As the pre-season preparations begin in December, fans are eagerly anticipating the start of the OFC Professional League, which is scheduled to kick off on January 26, 2026.
