The 11th season of Celebrity Family Feud premiered earlier this month, and soap opera enthusiasts should mark their calendars for Thursday, July 31. That’s when cast members from the beloved daytime dramas General Hospital (GH) and The Young and the Restless (Y&R) will face off in a thrilling charity competition.
Leading Team GH is captain Finola Hughes (Anna), joined by fellow cast members Donnell Turner (Curtis), Rena Sofer (Lois), Tanisha Harper (Jordan), and Maurice Benard (Sonny). The GH team is set to compete for The Nature Conservancy. Hughes expressed her nerves about competing, admitting that answering questions in public is a challenge. To prepare, her kids even quizzed her with Family Feud questions. “I didn’t want to let the team down,” she reflected.
However, once on set, Hughes was able to shake off her anxiety. She credited host Steve Harvey for creating a welcoming atmosphere. “He made us feel very special,” she said, appreciating his supportive demeanor and humor.
Benard shared his enthusiasm about participating, recalling how he watched the show with his father as a child, while acknowledging that it was outside of his comfort zone. “We were treated incredible, and we all had such a great time!” he posted on Instagram.
On the flip side, Team Y&R, led by Joshua Morrow (Nick), consists of Michelle Stafford (Phyllis), Lauralee Bell (Christine), Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea), and Bryton James (Devon). The team is competing to benefit the Southern California Wildfires Fund through the Entertainment Community Fund. Bell expressed gratitude towards Harvey and the entire Celebrity Family Feud team for their warm welcome and support.
Despite the competitive spirit, Hughes and Stafford, who are close friends in real life, enjoyed their experience together. Hughes noted there was a friendly rivalry between the two soaps, but it added to the fun of the event.
