A Travel Advisory has been issued for several counties in northeast Indiana as a snowstorm impacts the area on Wednesday afternoon. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security has announced that advisories are in effect for Allen, Adams, DeKalb, Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, and Steuben counties.

This advisory represents the lowest level of local travel warning, indicating that roadways are snow-covered, slick, and hazardous. Motorists are urged to exercise caution while driving.

In addition to the state-level advisories, Defiance County in Ohio has also declared a level 1 travel advisory, warning drivers of hazardous conditions and encouraging them to proceed with extreme caution.

Incidents resulting from the inclement weather have already been reported. In DeKalb County, a four-car pileup on southbound I-69 has resulted in two individuals suffering non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, in Allen County, local authorities are dealing with multiple accidents and slide-offs, some leading to minor injuries. Allen County Office of Emergency Management Director Bernie Beier noted that the light snowfall is contributing to the hazardous road conditions.

As always, residents are advised to stay updated on the latest developments through local news outlets and official advisories. For current information, individuals can access the department’s travel advisory map, which is continually updated with data from county emergency management agencies.
