The Pittsburgh Steelers are a legendary franchise in the NFL, with a fiercely loyal fan base, including the famous rapper Snoop Dogg. The Steelers, along with the New England Patriots, hold the record for the most Super Bowl victories, each with six championships.
Ahead of the Steelers’ matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on October 6 at Acrisure Stadium, Snoop Dogg discussed his support for the team in an interview. Despite being from Southern California, he has a long-standing admiration for Pittsburgh. “In the ‘70s, there were only a few teams that were truly dominating, and the Steelers were one of them,” he shared. “They represented something I could relate to, and I’ve loved them ever since.”
As the music world pays close attention to Taylor Swift’s NFL appearances with her boyfriend Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, Snoop clarified that he isn’t interested in sharing his Steelers fandom. “When it comes to a Steelers game, it’s us or nobody,” he asserted.
Despite his devotion, Snoop’s presence couldn’t secure a victory for the Steelers, who were narrowly defeated by the Cowboys 20-17 in the game. Snoop attended the event enthusiastically, as the last time he was at a Steelers home game was in September 2009.
During his visit, he stopped by the team store, expressing excitement about the merchandise. “I just went in there looking, and all of a sudden it started looking good,” he joked. He also engaged with fans, taking selfies and leading the “Terrible Towel Twirl,” a beloved ritual where a special guest twirls the famous towel that Steelers supporters wave during games.
Snoop highlighted the significance of this tradition, stating, “It symbolizes unity. It symbolizes what we’re about — the Steel City.” Despite the outcome of the game, Snoop’s spirited presence added a unique flair to the day as both teams moved to 3-2 for the season.
