In anticipation of its milestone 50th season, “Saturday Night Live” has announced the addition of three new cast members. However, Chloe Troast, a native of Bergen County, will not be returning for this historic season.
On Monday, Troast shared a statement on Instagram, revealing that her departure from the show was not her decision. “Unfortunately, I was not asked back to SNL this season. I wish I was going to be with all the amazing friends I made there; it truly felt like home. But it wasn’t in the cards,” she wrote.
She expressed gratitude to those who supported her during her time at SNL and during her summer tour, which brought joy to ten cities across the country. “I hope I was able to spread joy and laughter, all love. Onwards and upwards,” she concluded.
At 27, Troast grew up in Ho-Ho-Kus and graduated from Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale in 2015. She began her career in local comedy clubs and made her debut on “Saturday Night Live” during the season 49 premiere on October 15 of the previous year.
Since her announcement, Troast has received over 1,900 comments from fans, fellow comedians, and pop culture figures, many expressing their disbelief at her not being asked back. One commenter reflected, “I’ve been watching SNL since the first season in 1975. I didn’t think I’d ever be more surprised by a cast member not being asked back.” Another noted, “Honestly, you were the only reason I kept watching SNL last season … ready to follow you on your next adventure.”
With her summer tour complete and her time on “Saturday Night Live” over, fans are curious about Troast’s next steps. As of September 10, she has not announced any upcoming shows or events on her social media.
The 50th season of “Saturday Night Live” is set to premiere on September 28, with a special anniversary show scheduled for February 16. The new cast members joining the show this season include Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim, and Jane Wickline. “Saturday Night Live” airs on Saturday nights at 11:30 p.m. on NBC, with streaming available on Peacock.
