Smith Emphasizes Seizing Opportunity as Training Camp Presses On
Smith says he understands the magnitude of the chance before him and intends to make the most of it. He’s earned the opportunity, he notes, but must take advantage of it by staying disciplined and ready to perform when the moment arrives.
“I’ve just got to continue to work hard. Like I said, staying on top of my film, nutrition, weight room, stuff like that. Taking things from guys like Jeremy Chinn, Devin White, Elandon Roberts, Maxx Crosby—the leaders on our team—and following behind them. And then eventually, when I get the chance to get my opportunity, I’ve got to capitalize, that’s the name of the game,” Smith said.
“It’s always big, man. This is the opportunity where you’re able to improve on your craft, show what you could do when the season time comes around. It’s not over yet. We still have a lot more training camp practices left. We’ve got two more preseason games, so you just have to keep working and preparing to reach the level I want to be and the level the team wants to be. We’re expecting to have a big season this year. So we just have to keep working day in and day out.”
With training camp rolling and two preseason games remaining, the focus remains on preparation, consistency, and taking full advantage of the opportunities ahead. Leaders on the team are drawing a clear path for younger players, underscoring a culture of hard work and accountability that could shape the season to come.
Summary: Smith is positioning himself to capitalize on an opportunity through relentless preparation, guided by established teammates, with a hopeful outlook for a strong season.
Comment: The emphasis on film study, nutrition, and mentorship highlights a modern approach to building talent—one that rewards diligence and leadership. If Smith translates this work ethic into consistent on-field performance, he could become a key contributor as the team aims high this year.
