Stephen A. Smith has voiced his desire for NBA players, particularly Steph Curry, to show genuine enthusiasm during this weekend’s NBA All-Star events. The much-anticipated 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend is being hosted for the first time in the Bay Area since 2000, a year known for memorable moments like Vince Carter’s iconic dunk contest performance. This celebration is taking place at the Chase Center and Oakland Arena.

The festivities kicked off on Friday with the annual Celebrity Game, where Team Bonds triumphed with a score of 66-55. This was followed by the Rising Stars game, marking a vibrant start to the weekend. Saturday’s events will feature the skills challenge, the three-point contest, and the slam dunk contest, all leading up to the highlight of the weekend, the 74th NBA All-Star Game on Sunday.

This year’s All-Star Game introduces an exciting new format, showcasing four teams competing in a mini-tournament style. Three teams—Team Chuck, Team Shaq, and Team Kenny—were drafted by TNT’s “Inside the NBA” analysts, while the fourth team, Team Candace, comprises the champion from the Rising Stars game.

The tournament will consist of three matches: two semifinals and a championship showdown. Players on the winning team will each earn $125,000, while those finishing in second place will receive $50,000, and players on the third- and fourth-place teams will take home $25,000 each.

As fans and players look forward to a weekend full of excitement and high-stakes competition, the emphasis on player engagement and passion sets a promising tone for the festivities. This All-Star Weekend not only celebrates individual talents but also builds community and connection among players and fans alike.
