SLR Shield Showdown Sparks Fiji Old Boys Pride at Churchill Park

The annual SLR Shield Rugby Challenge saw the Queen Victoria School Eastern Old Boys emerge victorious over their Western counterparts, clinching a close match with a score of 22-17 at Churchill Park in Lautoka. This long-standing tradition unites alumni from Queen Victoria School across Fiji, reinforcing the connections shared among former students.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, who served as the chief guest, congratulated the Eastern team’s efforts in their hard-fought win. Drawing from his own experiences at Matavatucou, he highlighted the significance of discipline and perseverance learned during his educational journey. “I encouraged the players to keep working hard, stay focused, and aim high. One day, I hope to see many of them wearing the white Fiji jersey, carrying our nation forward with pride and determination,” he remarked.

The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to acknowledge the vital support from sponsors like OB Poasa Koroitamana of the Divine Fijian Group, as well as the influential QVS Old Boys network, which plays an essential role in upholding the SLR Shield tradition.
