The Philadelphia 76ers are currently experiencing a tough stretch, having lost a season-high four consecutive games following a 126-111 defeat to the New Orleans Pelicans. The absence of Joel Embiid has left the team struggling to establish an offensive rhythm, as they grapple with various issues on both ends of the court.
Despite holding an 11-point lead during the third quarter against the Pelicans, the Sixers faltered as New Orleans found their shooting touch, hitting 12 out of 20 three-point attempts after halftime. In stark contrast, Philadelphia managed only 3-for-24 from beyond the arc, sealing their fourth straight loss.
Tyrese Maxey, who scored 28 points in the game, reflected on the current challenges facing the team and emphasized the importance of unity. “It’s gonna take a lot,” Maxey stated. “You dig yourself a hole, only us can climb ourselves out of it. We’re in this thing together through the highs and the lows—through the peaks and the valleys.”
The Sixers entered the 2025-26 season knowing it would be difficult, especially with Embiid sidelined for an extended period. Additionally, Paul George’s recovery from surgery and his ongoing 25-game suspension have compounded the challenges for Philadelphia.
Statistically, the Sixers have struggled in several key areas since February 5, ranking 30th in assists per game, 29th in three-point percentage, and 28th in both offensive and defensive ratings. They are also tied for the fourth-worst record in the NBA during that timeframe.
Maxey acknowledged the complexity of the situation, noting the team’s strong start in the third quarter before losing momentum. “We played a really good half, then we come out there. We played a good start, third. Then we got those bombs away, and they hit some shots. It’s difficult to come back from that momentum swing,” he explained.
Looking ahead, the Sixers are set to face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, where they will seek to turn their fortunes around and begin climbing out of this difficult phase. The team’s resilience will be tested in the coming games, but the hope remains that they can work together to find success as the season progresses.
