KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced on Thursday that it is selling seven of its regional theme parks, including the popular Worlds of Fun, to EPR Properties Inc., based in Kansas City, Missouri, for $342 million.

The parks involved in this deal span over 1,600 acres and feature 418 attractions across five states and Canada, with a combined attendance of approximately 4.5 million visitors annually. The properties included in the sale are:

– Worlds of Fun – Amusement & Waterpark in Kansas City, Missouri
– Valleyfair – Amusement & Waterpark in Minneapolis, Minnesota
– Six Flags St. Louis – Amusement & Waterpark in St. Louis, Missouri
– Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston – Waterpark in Galveston, Texas
– Michigan’s Adventure – Amusement & Waterpark in Grand Rapids, Michigan
– Six Flags Great Escape – Amusement & Waterpark in Queensbury, New York
– Six Flags La Ronde – Amusement Park in Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Following the announcement, Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun updated their website to address questions from fans and season-ticket holders. “We understand how meaningful these parks are to the communities they serve and to the guests who have grown up visiting them,” Six Flags said. The company emphasized the emotional connection that these parks hold for their visitors and the lasting memories they help create.

Six Flags has assured patrons that the parks will continue normal operations through the 2026 season, and all 2026 season passes and active memberships will be honored throughout the year, including multi-park access. EPR Properties will also retain the right to use the Six Flags branding until 2026, indicating a smooth transition for current park experiences.

“We are confident in the future of these parks under the care of EPR and its operating partners, who have proven expertise in managing parks of this scale,” Six Flags stated. This strategic decision allows Six Flags to focus its resources on parks with greater potential for growth and innovation.

This change marks a significant step for Six Flags, offering new opportunities for both the sold parks and the company as it repositions itself in the entertainment industry. As the seasons progress, updates will be shared regarding the transition and operational guidelines for the parks moving forward.
