Director Jalmari Helander, renowned for his work on the gripping survival thriller ‘Sisu’, has expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating once again with actor Jorma Tommila in their upcoming sequel, ‘Sisu: Road to Revenge’. Helander praised Tommila’s remarkable ability to convey deep emotions such as rage and grief with minimal dialogue, highlighting the intensity he brings to each performance.
Nearly a decade after they first transformed the modern action thriller genre with ‘Sisu’, the duo’s reunion promises to deliver a powerful cinematic experience. Helander noted, “It’s always a pleasure to work with Jorma because he is uniquely capable of creating emotions, including rage and grief, with almost no dialogue. We experience what Aatami is feeling and thinking just by his face and gestures.”
In ‘Sisu: Road to Revenge’, Tommila portrays Aatami Korpi, a character whose life tragically shifts from that of a devoted family man to a battle-scarred survivor due to the ravages of war. As he confronts the aftermath of his family’s brutal murder, Aatami embarks on a journey to rebuild not just his home, but also his sense of purpose and future.
A recently released trailer reveals the sequel to be equally intense, showcasing Aatami’s quest to honor his family by reconstructing their home after his family’s brutal murder. This journey takes a dangerous turn when he faces the Red Army commander, played by Stephen Lang, who returns seeking vengeance, leading to a gripping cross-country chase filled with thrilling action and unexpected twists.
‘Sisu: Road to Revenge’, written and directed by Helander and produced by Mike Goodridge and Petri Jokiranta, features a talented cast that includes Richard Brake alongside Tommila and Lang. The film is slated for a multi-language release in India on November 21, presented by Sony Pictures in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, expanding its reach to a broader audience.
With its mix of emotional depth and high-octane action, ‘Sisu: Road to Revenge’ aims to not only entertain but also resonate with viewers, showcasing the resilience of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable loss.
