National Coffee Day is set for Sunday, September 29, and coffee enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the celebrations.
To mark the occasion, various coffee shops, fast-food chains, convenience stores, and other popular coffee venues will be offering discounts, freebies, and special deals.
According to the Fall 2024 National Coffee Data Trends (NCDT) analysis, out-of-home coffee consumption has reached its highest level since January 2020. Notably, while 81% of regular coffee drinkers enjoy coffee at home, 36% prefer to buy it outside, indicating a mix of behaviors among coffee consumers.
A significant majority of Americans, 51%, perceive coffee as beneficial to their health. The analysis shows that 66% believe coffee enhances mental focus, and 46% think it boosts physical endurance. Almost half, 48%, reported learning about coffee’s health benefits in the past year.
Reflecting this enthusiasm, American adults consume over 400 million cups of coffee daily, as per the National Coffee Association. The 2024 trends report indicates that the average American coffee drinker consumes 2.5 cups per day.
Key insights from the National Coffee Association include:
– 61% of Americans prefer traditional coffee, while 56% indulge in specialty options like lattes and cappuccinos.
– 24% of coffee consumed recently was served cold, marking a 60% increase since winter 2023.
– A significant 84% consume coffee with breakfast, and 76% say it energizes them.
National Coffee Day occurs annually on September 29, and in 2024, it falls on a Sunday. For those who prefer their coffee during the week, International Coffee Day is just two days later on Tuesday, October 1. Additionally, Texas will host the 2025 National Coffee Association Convention in Houston from March 6-8.
Several coffee chains are rolling out special offers for National Coffee Day 2024:
Starbucks will feature a special Twitch livestream DJ set with Sofi Tukker from 10 a.m. to noon, alongside a $10 discount on eligible Starbucks coffee products on Amazon with every $50 purchase while supplies last.
Dunkin’ Donuts will provide a free hot or iced coffee with any purchase for Dunkin’ Rewards members, limited to one per member.
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts will offer all customers a medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase and a sweet deal of $2 for a dozen original glazed donuts with the purchase of any dozen.
Scooter’s Coffee customers can receive a free hot or iced coffee when they order ahead or pay via the app on September 29 and 30, with the first 25 customers at each location receiving a complimentary limited-edition mug.
Circle K will give away a free medium iced or hot coffee, redeemable via the Circle K app from September 26 to October 2.
Pilot Flying J will provide free any-size hot, iced, or cold-brewed coffee all day on National Coffee Day, available through the myRewards Plus app.
Whataburger will offer a free 16-ounce iced coffee or 12-ounce hot coffee from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on September 29, with no purchase required.
La Madeleine customers can receive a free drip coffee with any in-store or online purchase from September 29 to October 1.
Shipley Do-Nuts will reward app users with a free glazed donut when they order coffee on National Coffee Day.
Kolache Factory will share a coupon on social media on September 29 for a free 12-ounce coffee, available in-store only.
Paris Baguette will provide PB Rewards members with a free medium hot or iced brewed coffee with any purchase from Friday to Sunday, brewed with Lavazza coffee.
Tim Hortons will give Tim’s Reward members a free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase from Friday to Sunday at participating locations.
