National Coffee Day will be celebrated on Sunday, September 29, and coffee enthusiasts are gearing up for a day filled with special offers and discounts from various coffee retailers.
In anticipation of this day, coffee shops, fast-food chains, convenience stores, and other venues famous for their coffee will provide freebies and deals to attract coffee lovers. According to the Fall 2024 National Coffee Data Trends analysis, out-of-home coffee consumption has surged to its highest level since January 2020. While 81% of coffee drinkers enjoy their coffee at home, 36% prefer purchasing coffee outside. Many individuals enjoy coffee both at home and in cafes.
The analysis indicates a positive outlook on coffee consumption, with 51% of Americans considering coffee beneficial for their health. Additionally, 66% believe it enhances mental focus, and 46% feel it boosts physical endurance. Nearly half of the respondents reported hearing about the health benefits of coffee in the last year, aligning with the statistic that American adults consume over 400 million cups of coffee daily, as stated by the National Coffee Association. The average American coffee drinker has 2.5 cups daily.
Key findings from the National Coffee Association include that 61% of Americans prefer traditional coffee, while 56% opt for specialty beverages like lattes and cappuccinos. Notably, 24% of coffee consumed recently was served cold, marking a 60% increase since winter 2023. It’s common for 84% of Americans to enjoy coffee with breakfast, and 76% agree that coffee helps them wake up and stay energized.
Looking ahead, National Coffee Day will consistently be celebrated on September 29 each year, and in 2024, it lands on a Sunday. Those who do not typically drink coffee on weekends can still participate in International Coffee Day, which falls on Tuesday, October 1. Also on the horizon is the 2025 National Coffee Association Convention in Houston, taking place from March 6-8.
