Flatiron Coffee Bar is officially opening its doors this morning, July 25th, at 7:30 AM. Situated in the Hay Building, the 12-seat coffee bar takes over the space previously occupied by Starbucks.
Owner Gary Perlmutter has crafted a vision for Flatiron as a European-style counter-service coffee bar. Alongside an array of espresso-based drinks, customers can enjoy drip coffee, cold brew, chai lattes, espresso tonics, and refreshing lemonade. The coffee is sourced from Claw Coffee Roasters in Scarborough and Lay Day Roasters in Bayside, ensuring quality and local support. The establishment will also feature freshly baked goods, including croissants and cardamom buns from Belleville and other treats from Little Spruce Baking Company. For those with a sweet tooth, gelato from Gorgeous Gelato will also be on the menu.
Located at 594 Congress Street, Flatiron Coffee Bar not only serves delicious beverages and snacks but also fosters an appreciation for local art. Gary Perlmutter and his wife, Rhonda Pearle, own the Pearl Gallery on the second floor of the building, where they display their own work alongside that of various artists. The first artist to be featured at Flatiron is Jean Leibowitz Wiecha, promising a blend of caffeine and creativity.
Flatiron Coffee Bar will operate daily from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, inviting the local community to enjoy a unique coffee experience in a gallery-like setting. This opening is a testament to the thriving local business scene and a commitment to supporting local art and culinary talent.
