Si Woo Kim has reaffirmed his dedication to the PGA Tour by announcing his participation in the upcoming Sony Open in Hawaii, set to commence on January 15. This decision comes amidst speculations that LIV Golf has sought to recruit the skilled Korean golfer.

In a recent Instagram post, Kim conveyed his eagerness to compete, stating, “OK guys, see you in (the Sony Open).” While he is committed to this tournament, it remains uncertain what the future holds, particularly since LIV Golf’s first event of the season is scheduled just two weeks later.

Despite recent rumors suggesting a potential transition to LIV Golf, a representative close to Kim has refuted these claims. Speaking to South Korea’s Maeil Business Newspaper, the spokesperson confirmed that while Kim, like many other Korean players, has received recruitment offers, he has ultimately decided to remain loyal to the PGA Tour.

LIV Golf’s CEO, Scott O’Neil, has identified South Korea as a crucial market for the league’s expansion. The organization is actively pursuing players such as Kim and fellow Korean golfer Sungjae Im, and has even trademarked the team name “Becko East GC.” The name “Becko,” derived from “Baekho” in Korean, which means “white tiger,” reflects a significant cultural symbol within Korean mythology.

As LIV Golf is set to finalize its rosters by February 4 for the 2026 season, Kim’s decision is a pivotal moment for his career and underscores the shifting dynamics within professional golf. With anticipation surrounding his performance in the Sony Open, Kim’s commitment to the PGA Tour amidst rival offers exemplifies the growing competition in the sport.
