Shots Fired at Trump Rally: President Unharmed

Trump Unharmed After Shots Fired at Rally in Pennsylvania

BUTLER, Pa. — Former President Donald Trump is unharmed following an incident in which shots were fired during his rally, according to a campaign spokesman.

“President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act,” stated Steven Cheung, the campaign’s communication director. “He is fine and is being examined at a local medical facility.”

Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger informed the Associated Press that the suspected shooter was dead, along with at least one rally attendee.

The Pennsylvania State Police confirmed the shooting incident involving Trump during Saturday’s rally. The information was shared on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

Following the shots, Trump was urgently escorted off stage and the rally was subsequently ended. Photographs from the event showed what appeared to be blood on Trump’s face, although the origin of the blood remains unclear.

President Joe Biden expressed his concern and condemnation of the act, stating, “There is no place in America for this kind of violence, it’s sick,” he said from Delaware. Biden’s campaign has temporarily paused all outbound communications and is working to remove its television advertisements as quickly as possible.

Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service, said the agency has implemented protective measures and is treating the situation as an active investigation.

Chris Takach, a rally attendee, recounted the incident to NPR member station WESA’s reporter Oliver Morrison. Takach described hearing gunfire, rounds hitting metal, and observing the collapse of a speaker tower’s hydraulic line, which caused widespread panic and prompted a swift law enforcement response.

Congressional leaders swiftly responded to the incident.

“Praying for President Trump,” stated House Speaker Mike Johnson.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries expressed his concern, saying, “My thoughts and prayers are with former President Trump. I am thankful for the decisive law enforcement response. America is a democracy. Political violence of any kind is never acceptable.”

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer added, “I am horrified by what happened at the Trump rally in Pennsylvania and relieved that former President Trump is safe. Political violence has no place in our country.”

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell noted, “Tonight, all Americans are grateful that President Trump appears to be fine after a despicable attack on a peaceful rally. Violence has no place in our politics. We appreciate the swift work of the Secret Service and other law enforcement.”

Additionally, former presidential candidates Doug Burgum, Ron DeSantis, and Niki Haley shared messages of concern and support for Trump on X.
