At least 10 individuals sustained injuries in New York City late Wednesday night when a group of men opened fire in a crowd, according to police authorities.

The incident occurred outside an upscale private event venue in Queens’ Jamaica neighborhood, specifically at the Amazura Concert Hall, as confirmed by Philip Rivera, the chief of patrol for the New York Police Department. At the time of the shooting, around 90 people were inside the concert hall, while roughly 15 others were queuing outside.

Chief Rivera reported that the assailants, described as three or four men, fired approximately 30 rounds into the crowd as they approached the venue. Following the attack, they fled the scene in a vehicle with out-of-state license plates.

The quick response from law enforcement and medical teams is crucial in these tense situations, and many emergency services worked diligently to ensure that the injured received necessary care. This unfortunate event underscores the ongoing issues surrounding gun violence in urban areas, igniting conversations about safety, community support, and preventive measures going forward.

As communities come together in the aftermath, there is hope that through collective action and dialogue, cities can work towards creating safer environments for all residents and visitors.
