Investment giant BlackRock has withdrawn an advertisement featuring Thomas Crooks, the gunman involved in the recent Pittsburgh rally shooting, which injured former President Donald Trump and resulted in the death of an attendee.
The company explained that the ad, released in 2022, showcased a teacher from Bethel Park High School, with Crooks appearing briefly in the background alongside other students. A spokesperson stated, “We will cooperate fully by providing all relevant video footage to authorities and have removed the ad out of respect for the victims.”
The 30-second video has gained widespread attention on social media platforms. BlackRock condemned the assassination attempt on Trump, describing it as “abhorrent,” and expressed relief that the former president was not seriously hurt.
The company reaffirmed its stance against political violence and pledged to contribute to promoting civility and unity in the country.
BlackRock, a notable shareholder in firearms manufacturers such as Sturm Ruger and American Outdoor Brand, the owner of Smith & Wesson, reported a significant milestone in its financial performance. The firm announced that its assets under management had reached a record $10.6 trillion during its latest quarterly earnings report.
