The highly anticipated anime adaptation of “SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table” has officially released a main promotional video along with announcements of five additional voice actors. Based on the popular light novel series by Yūshi Ukai and Nekometal, this adaptation is being produced by Studio DEEN, known for its commitment to quality animation.

The newly announced cast members include Haruka Oribe as Azuma, Rio Tsuchiya as Mishiro, Yume Miyamoto as Airi, Natsuko Abe as Moegi, and Shizuka Itō in a yet-to-be-disclosed role. The project is directed by Sōta Ueno, who previously directed “Days With My Stepsister”, while Rintarou Ikeda, of “The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon’s Judgement” fame, is handling the series composition.

The character designs are created by Eri Osada, with Noriyoshi Konuma serving as the sound director. The production team also includes professionals in various roles, such as hewa for concept art, Imari Katsuragi on color design, and Yoshihiro Nakamura as art director.

The anime’s musical score is composed by Junichi Matsumoto, while the opening theme, “¬Ersterbend” by LIN from MADKID, sets an engaging tone. The emotional ending theme, “Inori” (Prayer), performed by Chiai Fujikawa, complements the anime’s intense atmosphere.

Airing on Tokyo MX at 11:00 PM, the series will feature a special 60-minute premiere episode, with subsequent episodes scheduled for 11:30 PM. It will also be available on other platforms such as ABC TV and WOWOW. For international viewers, both Netflix and Crunchyroll are set to stream the series, making it accessible to a global audience.

The narrative follows Yuuki, who awakens in a mysterious manor dressed in a maid’s uniform alongside five other girls, all facing the harrowing realization that the mansion is filled with deadly weapons and traps. Their quest for survival hinges on participating in a series of gruesome games. However, Yuuki remains composed, leveraging her experience as a professional death game player keen on winning yet again.

The light novel series has garnered significant acclaim, notably winning the Excellence Award at the 18th MF Bunko J Light Novel Newcomer Award and achieving the top spot in the New Title category of the Takarajimasha’s “Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi!” rankings. The ninth volume is set to release on January 23, alongside the fifth collected volume of the manga adaptation in Kadokawa’s “Comp Ace” magazine.

The excitement surrounding “SHIBOYUGI” reflects a growing interest in adaptations of light novels, which have captivated audiences both in Japan and internationally. With high production values and an intriguing storyline, fans are eagerly looking forward to the anime’s debut.
