Sherie Rene Scott is set to take on the lead role in the Broadway musical The Queen of Versailles, starting on November 25. This marks a temporary shift as the usual star, Kristin Chenoweth, will return to the stage on November 26, with Scott also performing on December 3. The production has announced that it will conclude on January 4, 2026, giving fans a limited window to see Scott’s acclaimed return to the Broadway scene at the St. James Theatre.
The Queen of Versailles, adapted from Lauren Greenfield’s 2012 documentary, follows the story of a couple’s ambitious dream to build the largest private home in the United States in Orlando, Florida. However, their plans are thwarted by the 2008 recession, leading to a dramatic shift in their lavish lifestyle. The musical features a collaboration between book writer Lindsey Ferrentino and music by Stephen Schwartz.
Scott, a Broadway veteran, is known for her standout performances in productions such as Aida, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and The Little Mermaid. She was praised by Chenoweth, who noted, “Sherie is a true Broadway original,” highlighting her ability to infuse heart and humor into her performances.
The cast includes notable names such as Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham as David Siegel and Melody Butiu as Sofia, among others. Direction for the musical is led by two-time Tony winner Michael Arden.
With choreography by Lauren Yalango-Grant and Christopher Cree Grant, alongside an impressive team handling scenic design, costumes, lighting, and sound, The Queen of Versailles promises to deliver a vibrant theatrical experience. As fans eagerly anticipate Scott’s portrayal of Jacqueline “Jackie” Siegel, the show’s unique exploration of aspiration and resilience makes it a significant entry in the Broadway landscape.
