Sheinelle Jones recently opened up about her son facing growing pains that are keeping him off the soccer field. Jones, a co-host on Today, has three children: 16-year-old Kayin and 13-year-old twins, Uche Jr. and Clara, whom she had with her late husband Uche Ojeh.

Though she did not specify which of her sons is dealing with the issue, Jones explained that the pains under his knees are quite typical for boys experiencing growth spurts. During a segment on the 3rd Hour of Today, Sheinelle highlighted how she used this situation as a teaching moment to emphasize the importance of being a supportive teammate, despite his inability to play. She recounted how they still attended the game even though her son was benched due to his injury.

This period for the Jones family comes shortly after Sheinelle’s return to work, following a break she took in 2024 to spend time with Ojeh before his passing in May. During a heartfelt interview with Savannah Guthrie after her return on September 5, she shared the emotional aftermath of losing her husband, describing her heart as “shattered” and opening up about adjusting to life without him. The absence has been tough for her children, who have also faced the added challenge of losing a grandfather who used to be an active part of their lives.

Jones explored how the family’s first vacation without Ojeh didn’t bring the comfort she hoped for. Instead, it was a stark reminder of his absence, particularly in the activities they previously enjoyed together. Even on beautiful days, she finds it challenging as those were the times her husband would have valued to do things together with the kids.

Despite her family’s grief, Sheinelle Jones showcases resilience and commitment to nurturing her children through these difficult times. She continues to find ways to teach them valuable life lessons and foster their growth, supporting them both emotionally and as an example of strength.
