The San Jose Sharks are excited to announce a partnership with Pixar for the upcoming release of the animated film Inside Out 2 on Disney+. This collaboration will reach its peak at SAP Center in San Jose on Sunday, October 20 at 5 p.m., as the Sharks face off against the Colorado Avalanche. Families will have the chance to enjoy an entertaining hockey game while immersing themselves in the humor and emotions presented in Inside Out 2.
In advance of the game, the Sharks will hold a “Girls Try Hockey For Free” event at SAP Center on Sunday, October 13 at 10 a.m. This event is aimed at girls aged 4-9, providing an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of hockey while celebrating Girls Hockey Weekend in America with the Sharks Ice Coaching Staff in a supportive and enjoyable setting. Participants will receive themed gift bags featuring Sharks and Inside Out 2 items, along with a ticket voucher for the October 20 game.
The game on October 20 will include several special features:
– Exclusive Sharkie and Pixar Pins: Fans can take part in activities on the concourse to earn special themed pins (while supplies last).
– Family Photos: There’s a “Teal Carpet” photo opportunity featuring hockey sticks that represent each of the nine emotions from Inside Out 2. Attendees might encounter Sharkie, the Sharks’ mascot, and Randy Hahn, a voice actor from the film, before the game.
– Family Activities: Fans can decorate their shoelaces with Emotions-themed beads and charms, plus participate in games to win prizes. One lucky fan will win a grand prize trip to Disney’s California Adventure to see Inside Out 2 characters at Pixar Pier, along with a night at the new Pixar Place Hotel.
– Special Ticket Offer: Fans can purchase a bundle that includes a ticket to the game and a Sharks Ice Open Skate voucher, valid at any Sharks Ice location. This ticket offer can be found online.
– In-Game Specials: Special food and beverage options will be available, along with merchandise deals.
Heather Vaughan, Vice President of Marketing for the San Jose Sharks, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Pixar to bring families together through the exhilarating world of hockey and the inspiring themes of the film. This event is not just about the game; it focuses on building community and promoting mental well-being for youth through sports.”
Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2 revisits teenage Riley, who must navigate changes as new emotions emerge in her mind. The film, a sequel to the 2015 blockbuster Inside Out, underlines the significance of mental health in sports and daily life, a theme that resonates with audiences of all ages.
Join the Sharks for a memorable evening filled with excitement, inspiration, and family connection, highlighting the importance of supporting youth in sports and mental wellness. Tickets for this unique event are currently on sale.
