The San Jose Sharks have announced an exciting partnership with Pixar to celebrate the upcoming release of the animated film Inside Out 2 on Disney+. This collaboration will peak on Sunday, October 20, at 5 p.m. when the Sharks face off against the Colorado Avalanche at SAP Center. Families attending the game will experience the thrill of hockey alongside the themes of Inside Out 2.
In advance of the game, the Sharks will organize a “Girls Try Hockey For Free” event at SAP Center on Sunday, October 13, starting at 10 a.m. This event is designed for girls aged 4-9, allowing them to learn the fundamentals of hockey as part of Girls Hockey Weekend in America. The Sharks Ice Coaching Staff will create a supportive and fun environment for participants, who will receive themed gift bags featuring Sharks and Inside Out 2 merchandise. Each participant will also get a ticket voucher for the game on October 20.
The game on October 20 will offer various special features:
– Exclusive Sharkie and Pixar pins will be available for fans participating in activities on the concourse (while supplies last).
– A “Teal Carpet” photo session will allow families to capture memories with hockey sticks representing the nine Emotions from Inside Out 2. Fans might also catch Sharkie, the Sharks’ mascot, and Randy Hahn, a voice actor from the film.
– Fans can engage in family activities, including decorating shoelaces inspired by Inside Out 2’s Emotions and winning prizes throughout the evening. A grand prize trip to Disney’s California Adventure, including a one-night stay at the new Pixar themed hotel, Pixar Place Hotel, will also be awarded during the game.
A special ticket offer is available, allowing fans to bundle a Sharks game ticket with a Sharks Ice Open Skate voucher, redeemable at any of the three Sharks Ice locations in San Jose, Fremont, and Oakland. Details can be found at the Sharks’ official website.
In-game specials will include unique food and beverage options and discounts on Sharks merchandise.
Heather Vaughan, Vice President of Marketing for the San Jose Sharks, expressed excitement about the collaboration: “We are thrilled to join forces with Pixar to bring families together through the exhilarating world of hockey and the inspiring messages of the film.” Vaughan emphasized that this event goes beyond just a game; it aims to cultivate community spirit and support mental well-being in youth through sports, drawing inspiration from the characters in Inside Out 2.
Inside Out 2 follows teenager Riley as she navigates new emotions like Anxiety and Envy in addition to her original emotions: Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. The film highlights teamwork, resilience, and community, echoing the values inherent in the sport of hockey.
