On May 16, Shakira delivered a powerful performance in New Jersey as part of her “Las mujeres ya no lloran” tour, captivating a a crowd of approximately 82,000 at MetLife Stadium. In her show, the Colombian star reflected on her immigrant experience, expressing pride in her journey to the United States at the age of 19. Introducing her song “Objection (Tango),” she referred to it as “the song of an immigrant” and reminisced about her initial struggles with the language.

Despite a train strike causing a delay of an hour and a half, the fans remained undeterred, eagerly awaiting her arrival. Once on stage, Shakira paid tribute to Latina women, displaying their flags on massive screens as she performed a medley of her latest hits, including “Te felicito” and “TQG.” She expressed gratitude for her fans’ support during her vulnerable moments and connected with single mothers and women navigating challenges in love, all while promoting self-love.

Shakira emphasized her emotional journey from the past few years, calling on her inner child for strength. The concert featured visually stunning elements, including a 3D character reminiscent of her and a protective wolf imagery connected to her children, Milan and Sasha, who joined her virtually in the performance of “Acróstico.”

The night was filled with iconic classics like “Don’t Bother” and “Underneath Your Clothes,” as well as guest appearances. While in Charlotte earlier that week, she brought out Alejandro Sanz and Wyclef Jean, this time she surprised the audience with a duet featuring Ozuna on “Monotonía.”

As the concert drew to a close, fans were treated to a spectacular finale with “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” and “Loba,” featuring an impressive set design of a giant wolf emitting laser beams. Shakira encouraged the crowd to howl along, delivering pointed messages to her ex-partner, Gerard Piqué, with striking lyrics that elicited enthusiastic cheers from the audience.

In a striking gesture, she concluded the show by showering her fans with fake dollar bills adorned with her face, symbolizing her empowering message: “women no longer cry, women make money.” The concert stood as a testament to Shakira’s resilience and celebration of womanhood, sending a positive message about immigrant experiences and personal strength.
