Shakira’s 48th birthday was celebrated in style at the 2025 Grammy Awards, which took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2. The Colombian superstar not only marked her special day but also took home a Grammy award and delivered an unforgettable live performance.
The evening began with Gloria Estefan introducing Shakira as “the global superstar … the one and only, the incomparable, Shakira.” This was followed by a heartfelt tribute video where Shakira discussed her recent separation and how she found strength through music.
Sporting a dazzling golden two-piece outfit with matching gloves, Shakira captivated the audience by performing her iconic 1998 hit “Ojos Así,” enhanced by an impressive belly-dancing routine. She seamlessly transitioned into her powerful and energetic rendition of “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” celebrating her musical journey.
At the esteemed ceremony, Shakira—now a four-time Grammy winner—claimed the award for Best Latin Pop Album for her project “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.” Competing in a strong category against artists such as Anitta and Luis Fonsi, she dedicated her victory to her “immigrant brothers and sisters in this country,” reminding them of their worth and love, as well as dedicating it to her sons Milan and Sasha, who were in attendance.
Her current album, Shak’s twelfth over her impressive four-decade career, debuted at the top of Billboard’s Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums charts last April, solidifying her status as a formidable force in the music industry.
The night was also a celebration of the talents of other Latin artists, with Residente receiving the award for Best Música Urbana Album, while Rawayana won for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album, among others, showcasing the growing influence of Latin music.
In other highlights, Beyoncé led the nominations at the 2025 Grammys with 11, followed by noteworthy artists like Charli XCX and Billie Eilish, each with seven nominations.
This year’s Grammy Awards not only spotlighted outstanding musical talent but also served as an inspiration for artists and fans alike, reinforcing the importance of music as a source of hope and resilience in challenging times.
