FOX 17 News has issued a Code Red Weather alert as strong to severe thunderstorms are expected throughout Tuesday. A Tornado Watch is currently in effect for parts of Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky until 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
The morning began with active weather, featuring showers and thunderstorms moving across Middle Tennessee. While some of these storms reached severe levels, it is anticipated that the threat will diminish for the afternoon and evening hours, especially as early storms may help lessen the severity of late-day weather.
The primary hazards associated with the morning storms have been strong winds and hail. Weather conditions in the early afternoon, particularly any sunshine, will be closely monitored due to the possibility of increased risk for severe weather later in the day. As it stands, the timeframe for the most severe storms is projected to be from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m., with a concerning 10% chance of encountering an EF-2 tornado or stronger within a 25-mile radius.
Throughout the afternoon and evening, storms are expected to be scattered, gradually tapering off into early Wednesday morning. Residents are urged to stay informed about the weather situation as it develops.
This alert serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of severe weather, particularly during this time of year. Preparedness and staying updated with local weather reports is key to ensuring safety during such events.
