Areas at risk include Midtown Savannah, Coffee Bluff, Windsor Forest, Wilmington Island, Hunter Army Airfield, Downtown Savannah, Montgomery, Vernonburg, Skidaway Island, and Isle of Hope. Residents are advised to be vigilant, as these storms could result in tree damage and flying debris.
To ensure safety, individuals in the affected areas are encouraged to take shelter in an interior room on the lowest level of a sturdy building, away from windows. Those who are outdoors, living in mobile homes, or in vehicles should seek immediate shelter in a secure building and protect themselves from debris.
At 7:58 p.m., a thunderstorm capable of generating a tornado was detected in Montgomery, which is near Vernonburg and Pin Point, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
