Pittsburgh is bracing for more severe weather this afternoon, as a weather system is set to bring large hail and gusty winds to the area. According to First Alert Meteorologist Ron Smiley, storm activity is likely to arrive as early as 1 p.m. and may generate at least two rounds of storms throughout the evening, lasting until around 9 p.m.

This storm system, which is originating from the southeast, is expected to move northwest, taking advantage of the atmospheric conditions fueled by recent sunshine. The most urgent concerns include the potential for heavy rainfall in areas that experienced approximately two inches of rain yesterday, along with the risk of damaging winds and large hail.

Forecasts from the KDKA Weather Center indicate that while rain will persist overnight, respite from the rain is expected tomorrow. Cooler temperatures are anticipated Tuesday, with general thunderstorms likely in the evening rather than severe weather.

Following this, a warming trend is predicted by midweek, bringing temperatures back into the 70s by Wednesday, after a chance of scattered morning showers. By Thursday, temperatures will dip to the 60s with more isolated showers, but the weekend is set to bring more stable weather, with pleasant conditions expected for Mother’s Day, reaching into the mid to upper 70s.

Stay safe and keep an eye on local forecasts as the situation develops. With conditions shifting, this weekend offers a hopeful return to warmer and drier weather.
