Severe weather is on the horizon for parts of Oklahoma late tonight, according to meteorologist Sabrina Bates with KOCO. The forecast indicates a chance of severe storms, particularly as storms currently in Kansas move southward toward the Oklahoma Panhandle. While western Oklahoma faces a marginal risk (Level 1) of severe weather, the primary threat includes winds gusting up to 60 miles per hour, with isolated instances of winds reaching 70 mph. Additionally, hail up to the size of quarters may occur.

As the evening progresses, storms are expected to track toward far northern Oklahoma and then move toward Interstate 40 after midnight, bringing thunder and additional severe weather risks. By Monday morning, storms will advance further south, nearing the Red River in southern Oklahoma, and the weather should clear up by the afternoon, setting the stage for a return to high temperatures, potentially reaching close to 100 degrees.

Residents are advised to stay informed through KOCO for updates as the situation develops. This evolving weather pattern highlights the unpredictability of spring storms and reminds the community to remain alert and prepared for sudden changes in the weather.

While severe weather can be alarming, it also provides an opportunity for communities to come together, ensuring safety and readiness for all.
