A cold front moving through Wisconsin is expected to bring severe thunderstorms to central and southern parts of the state on Sunday, June 29, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for 31 counties, lasting until 9 p.m., covering areas from Green Bay down to southwestern Wisconsin. Notably, Milwaukee County is not included in this watch.
Meteorologist Ben Miller from the NWS in Sullivan indicated that the storms may produce rainfall between 1 to 1.5 inches, alongside potential hail and strong winds reaching 50-60 miles per hour. Additionally, as of 3:01 p.m., the NWS escalated the situation to a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Brown, Oconto, Outagamie, and Shawano counties, which will remain in effect until 3:45 p.m.
In southeastern Monroe County, rainfall has already accumulated between two to four inches by 3 p.m., with forecasts predicting an additional one to two inches. This heavy rainfall has prompted a flash flood warning for the area, which will stay active until 5:15 p.m.
As such severe weather looms, residents are urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. The potential for thunderstorms reinforces the importance of preparedness and keeping an eye on local weather updates.
