Severe Thunderstorm Alert: What to Expect Today in Huntsville!

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – A First Alert Weather Day has been issued for today due to the possibility of severe thunderstorms later in the day and into the night. The day will start mainly cloudy, with a chance of isolated thunderstorms developing in the mid-afternoon. The main line of storms is expected to reach northwest Alabama around 5 P.M., with potential severe weather conditions, including damaging winds exceeding 60 MPH and the possibility of tornadoes.

The approaching storm front could bring winds as strong as 70 MPH, along with large hail and significant rain, accompanied by hazardous lightning. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and prepare a safety plan in case of severe weather impacts their area. Fortunately, after the storms pass, a clearer and more pleasant day is anticipated for Wednesday, with temperatures in the 70s.

Looking ahead, Wednesday night is expected to be clear and cool, with temperatures dropping into the upper 50s. Thursday may see a stray shower, but otherwise should remain dry and pleasant, with low to mid-70s expected. The night will be chilly, with temperatures around 50 degrees. A sunny and enjoyable Friday follows, with temperatures again in the low 70s.

As for the Memorial Day weekend, there is a chance of showers and storms primarily on Sunday and Monday, with high temperatures remaining in the 70s and lows in the 60s.
