LINCOLN, Neb. – Residents can expect a bit of lingering warmth as summer-like temperatures persist on Tuesday. However, a cold front moving through the region is set to bring relief from the heat by midweek.

The forecast includes an increased chance of thunderstorms on Tuesday, continuing into the night and early Wednesday. Some storms may become severe, potentially bringing large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall. As the cold front progresses, sporadic showers and thunderstorms are anticipated throughout the week and into the weekend, though there will be breaks of dry weather as well.

On Monday night, mainly dry conditions are expected across much of the area, with afternoon and evening thunderstorms likely in northern and western Nebraska on Tuesday as the cold front gradually moves south. The potential for lingering showers may occur as the front stalls in the southern areas.

Looking ahead, while Tuesday may see highs in the upper 80s, temperatures are projected to return to seasonal averages by the weekend, with a warm-up into the 90s anticipated early next week.

In light of the changing weather patterns, residents are encouraged to stay informed through local forecasts and prepare for possible severe weather conditions. Stay safe and enjoy the summer warmth while it lasts!
