Severe Storms Expected in Siouxland: What You Need to Know!

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for much of Siouxland, including Sioux City, until 10 PM as meteorological conditions are set to shift. The region has remained relatively calm throughout the afternoon, but a weather system from the west is expected to trigger storm activity in the evening.

The primary threats associated with these storms are high winds that may reach up to 75 mph and hail potentially as large as golf balls. There is also a risk, albeit isolated, of tornadoes forming as the storms develop in the western areas of Siouxland.

The severe weather is anticipated to move eastward, likely exiting the KTIV viewing area after 11 PM. Afterward, some weaker showers and storms may linger into the night with temperatures expected to dip into the low 60s.

On Tuesday morning, clouds may persist briefly before giving way to mostly sunny skies in the afternoon, with temperatures rising to the low to mid-80s and a gentle northerly breeze.

Looking ahead to Wednesday, there are chances for morning thunderstorms in western Siouxland; however, the bulk of the day is projected to be dry with highs soaring into the upper 80s. As the evening approaches, the potential for new storms will become a focus, with a Marginal Risk issued for this area concerning possible hail and wind.

Thursday is expected to warm up again, with temperatures reaching the upper 80s. Early morning storms could occur, but better chances for severe weather are predicted later in the day, prompting a First Alert Weather Day due to the elevated risk.

The active weather pattern is anticipated to extend into Friday, with additional storms and cooler temperatures in the low 80s. The significant question remains whether this weather activity will continue into the weekend.

To keep updated on these developments, viewers are encouraged to tune into KTIV News for full forecasts and updates.
