On Saturday, the 31st, Seoul will experience extremely cold morning temperatures, dropping to -11 degrees Celsius, with regions like Cheorwon and Daegwallyeong in Gangwon Province seeing lows of -16 degrees. The Korean Meteorological Administration forecasts morning temperatures across the country to range from -16 to 3 degrees, with afternoon highs between -1 to 8 degrees. In central regions, morning temperatures are expected to hover around -10 degrees, creating a very chilly atmosphere. Additionally, with slightly stronger winds contributing to the cold, residents are urged to take precautions for warmth.
The weather is predicted to reveal some clouds in many areas before gradually clearing up by morning, although the metropolitan area is expected to become cloudier in the evening. Regions in central Korea, as well as the eastern and western coasts of Jeolla Province and parts of Gyeongsang Province, are under dry weather advisories, indicating extremely dry conditions that may increase the risk of fire.
Air quality is anticipated to remain at ‘good’ to ‘moderate’ levels across all regions. Waves in the East Sea are expected to reach heights of 0.5 to 2.0 meters, while the West and South Seas will experience waves of 0.5 to 1.5 meters. In more distant offshore areas, wave heights are projected to be 1.0 to 3.0 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the South Sea.
As the cold wave grips Korea, it serves as a reminder for residents to stay warm and be mindful of fire hazards in dry conditions.
