Sentnor’s Transfer Sparks Intrigue: What’s Next for the Rising Soccer Star?

HERRIMAN, Utah (Friday, August 1, 2025) – Utah Royals FC has announced the trade of forward Ally Sentnor to Kansas City Current in exchange for $600,000 in intraleague transfer funds, allocated over a three-year period. The deal also includes a conditional $100,000 and a sell-on clause for any future transfers.

During her time with Utah, Sentnor, the first overall pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft, played 34 matches, all of which she started, and accumulated 2,990 minutes on the field over the last two seasons. Showing versatility, she played various roles along the front line, effectively contributing four goals and five assists.

Sentnor etched a memorable moment in her early career by scoring her first goal for Utah Royals FC in just her second professional match against the North Carolina Courage on March 22, 2024. Her impressive solo effort saw her break through the Courage defense, culminating in a powerful left-footed strike into the far post.

Kelly Cousins, the Sporting Director of Utah Royals FC, expressed deep appreciation for Sentnor’s contributions: “The Club could not be more appreciative of everything that Ally brought to Utah. Her infectious personality and incredible talent won over the locker room even faster than it did the Royals’ fanbase. After drafting her at number one, she burst onto the scene and enjoyed a meteoric rise that has been an absolute joy to watch. Now that it’s time to say goodbye, we wish her nothing but the best of luck in her career.”

At just 21 years old, Sentnor leaves behind a remarkable college legacy at the University of North Carolina, where she was named the 2023 ACC Midfielder of the Year and earned first-team All-ACC and third-team All-American honors. She had an outstanding final collegiate season, leading her team with 11 goals and 7 assists across all 23 matches.

On the international stage, Sentnor has already made 12 senior caps, netting four goals and providing two assists, including a noteworthy debut against England last year at Wembley Stadium. Her accolades continue with her recognition as U.S. Soccer’s Young Female Player of the Year and a leadership role in guiding the U-20 team to bronze at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, where she was awarded the Bronze Ball. She scored her first international goal against Colombia earlier this year with a stunning strike from long range.

Sentnor’s transfer marks a significant moment in her burgeoning career as she embarks on a new chapter with Kansas City Current, where she looks to continue to develop her talents and impact in the league. This move also highlights the exciting growth of women’s soccer, reflecting the increasing investment and competitive spirit in the NWSL.
