Second Cakobau Bowl Challenge: Police vs Corrections Rugby Clash at Albert Park

The Annual Native Constabulary Cakobau Bowl Challenge was officially launched this morning, marking the second edition of the exciting rugby encounter between the Fiji Police Force and the Fiji Corrections Service. This year’s fixture carries additional significance, as it coincides with the Fiji Corrections Service’s celebration of its 150th anniversary. Last year, the Police secured a 45–31 victory at the Nasova Grounds, setting a competitive tone for this annual event.

Acting Commissioner of Corrections, Sevuloni Naucukidi, expressed determination from his team to make a strong statement in this year’s clash, emphasizing their improved preparation compared to last year. “We are better prepared this year and will give Police a run for their money,” Naucukidi stated confidently.

The annual match not only promotes camaraderie, discipline, and teamwork between the two institutions but also celebrates their shared history of service to the nation. This year’s event will take place at Albert Park on the 31st of this month.

Echoing sentiments from previous encounters, the match intends to build on the foundation of sportsmanship and collaboration. The inaugural game last year produced a thrilling showdown, creating a new tradition for the forces. As plans for future matches are set, there remains a hopeful atmosphere surrounding this year’s challenge, fostering community engagement and collective pride in the legacy of service shown by both organizations.

With the growing enthusiasm and the historical significance behind these encounters, fans can look forward to an exciting spectacle on the rugby field that promises to unite the community.
