Search Intensifies for Missing Holland America Cruise Passenger in Caribbean

Local authorities are currently searching for a U.S. citizen who went missing during a Holland America Line cruise in the Caribbean. Ann Evans, 55, was last seen when the Rotterdam cruise ship docked in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten, on November 20.

According to the Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM), Evans left the cruise ship at approximately 10:00 a.m. to join an organized bus tour of the island. During the tour, she exited the bus in Marigot, French Saint Martin, but did not return, prompting concern for her safety.

Authorities are actively working to locate Evans and have encouraged anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to come forward. They have reached out to the Dutch and French law enforcement agencies to aid in the search. The police also shared a message urging Evans to contact her family or local authorities to confirm her safety if she is in a position to do so.

A spokesperson for Holland America confirmed that a guest did not return to the Rotterdam on November 20 and that the cruise line notified local authorities immediately. They emphasized that they are collaborating closely with law enforcement to ascertain the guest’s whereabouts. The Rotterdam is currently undertaking a 12-day round-trip voyage that started in Fort Lauderdale on November 16, with stops in the Bahamas, St. Lucia, Tobago, Barbados, and Puerto Rico before its scheduled return on November 28.

The Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act mandates that cruise ships report criminal activities and incidents involving passengers to the FBI. Recent reports highlighted six missing U.S. nationals in 2025, with most cases registered from Royal Caribbean vessels.

This situation underscores the risks associated with cruise tourism and the importance of maintaining safety protocols, especially when passengers explore unfamiliar destinations. The ongoing search for Ann Evans reflects the commitment of local authorities and cruise line representatives to ensure passenger safety during their voyages.
