Seahawks Eye Diggs Reunion on Practice-Squad Deal

Safety Quandre Diggs is poised for a return to the Seattle Seahawks, where he enjoyed a strong tenure from 2019 to 2023. Following his release from the Seahawks in March 2024, Diggs spent a season and a half with the Tennessee Titans before being waived earlier this month. Recent reports suggest he is set to join Seattle once again, with negotiations underway for a practice squad contract.

After a solid first season with the Titans, where he played as a full-time starter, Diggs faced setbacks due to a Lisfranc injury, limiting him to just eight games. He made a comeback this year, starting in four out of nine games, but ultimately requested his release. Despite the challenges, he managed to make 30 tackles and register one pass defensed this season. His performance for 2025 has garnered attention, with Pro Football Focus ranking him 39th among 93 qualifying safeties.

Drafted in the sixth round by the Detroit Lions in 2015, Diggs was acquired by the Seahawks in a 2019 trade that proved beneficial for Seattle. General manager John Schneider’s decision to trade a fifth-round pick for Diggs has proven fruitful, as he became a key player, making three Pro Bowls and achieving 18 interceptions over 72 regular-season games with the team.

Now, with the Seahawks maintaining an impressive 8-3 record as they pursue an NFC West title, Diggs’ return is particularly timely. The Seahawks have been dealing with injuries at the safety position, which has led them to seek his expertise once more. Star safety Julian Love has been sidelined since Week 4 due to a hamstring injury, and with no clear timeline for his return, the situation has become more urgent. Additionally, Ty Okada, who had stepped in as a replacement, is now a candidate for injured reserve after sustaining an oblique injury in Seattle’s recent victory over the Titans.

With Love and Okada both out, the Seahawks currently find themselves with only Coby Bryant, D’Anthony Bell, and rookie Nick Emmanwori as healthy safeties on the roster. Adding Diggs to the practice squad would not only reinforce the team’s depth but also enhance its defensive capabilities as they aim to solidify their playoff contention.
