Scotty McCreery is mourning the loss of both of his beloved grandmothers, who passed away within hours of each other on July 9. The singer, known for his victory on “American Idol,” expressed his grief in a heartfelt Instagram post, writing, “My heart is absolutely broken. Yesterday, both my Grandma Janet and my Grandma Paquita passed away.”

Janet Hunter Cooke, 85, and Paquita McCreery, 93, had a significant impact on McCreery’s life, and he shared cherished memories of them in his post, including a touching photograph from his wedding day where they were present. “Both of them truly taught me what love is all about,” he added, and he requested fans to keep his family in their prayers during this difficult time.

The news of their passing was also confirmed by McCreery’s mother, Judy, on Facebook. She explained that her mother, Janet, had recently been battling norovirus and the flu, which led to complications including dehydration and pneumonia, resulting in her passing shortly after 1 pm. Tragically, just hours later, Paquita also passed away at 4 pm. Judy expressed the profound sorrow of having lost both mothers in such a short span.

This significant loss highlights the deep bonds formed within families and the importance of remembering the loving moments shared. In times of grief, the support from friends, fans, and the community can help in the healing process. McCreery’s reflection on the love his grandmothers provided serves as a reminder to cherish loved ones while they are here.
