Mads Mikkelsen, known for his roles in “Casino Royale,” “Hannibal,” and “Another Round,” has officially joined the cast of Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film “What Happens at Night,” as reported by The Insider. This exciting collaboration marks the seventh time that Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio will work together, following their successful previous projects such as “Gangs of New York,” “The Aviator,” “The Departed,” “Shutter Island,” “The Wolf of Wall Street,” and “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

While character details remain largely undisclosed, the film’s odd and dreamlike narrative revolves around a married American couple who travel to a quaint, snow-covered European town for the purpose of adopting a baby. Their stay takes them to a vast, mostly empty hotel where they encounter a series of intriguing characters, including a lively songstress, a morally questionable businessman, and a captivating faith healer. As they strive to finalize their adoption, the couple finds themselves delving deeper into an unsettling exploration of their own identities and the life they’ve constructed.

The screenplay for “What Happens at Night” is written by Patrick Marber, adapted from the novel by Peter Cameron. Jennifer Lawrence will join Mikkelsen and DiCaprio in the cast, with additional casting details expected soon as filming is set to commence next month. The project also boasts celebrated cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, an Oscar nominee known for his visually striking work.

With such a rich ensemble and a unique story, expectations are building for what promises to be another compelling entry in the filmography of Scorsese and DiCaprio. The combination of a haunting tale and exceptional talent hints at a cinematic experience that could resonate with audiences and contribute further to the legacy of these esteemed filmmakers.
